Night of Hope is Almost Here!
April Newsletter
Dear Friends of VFC,
April is nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month—a time to raise awareness, strengthen families, and reaffirm our shared responsibility to protect children in our community.
At Voices for Children, CASA of Boulder County, this month holds deep meaning. Every day, we work to ensure that children who have experienced abuse and neglect are seen, heard, and supported. CASA volunteers' step into the lives of these children during some of their most uncertain moments, providing consistent, compassionate advocacy and helping to ensure their needs remain the priority in complex systems.
Child abuse prevention is not only about responding to harm, but also about building a community where families are supported; children are safe, and early intervention is possible. CASA volunteers play a critical role in this work by advocating for stability, access to services, and permanency for children who have already entered the child welfare system. Their presence helps mitigate further trauma and supports better long-term outcomes such as promoting stability, fewer moves, improved school performance, and reduced re-entry into the foster care system.
This month also serves as an opportunity to come together in support of our mission. On April 29th, we invite you to join us for our annual Night of Hope fundraiser. This special evening brings our community together to celebrate the resilience of the children we serve, honor the dedication of our volunteers, and raise vital funds to continue and expand our work.
Preventing child abuse and neglect requires collective action. Whether through volunteering, supporting families, or investing in organizations like CASA, each of us has a role to play in creating a safer, stronger future for the valuable children in our community.
Thank you for standing with Voices for Children and for helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
KATwalk 2026
Congratulations to the amazing women of Kappa Alpha Theta – Beta Iota chapter for another fantastic KATwalk! The KATwalk fundraiser brings CU organizations together to show their talents and raise money to support VFC. This year, 25 groups danced, performed, and gave their all in front of a full Macky Auditorium.
This year’s winner Sigma Nu did an especially great job. As a result of KATWalk, Theta has raised more than $50,000 to support Voices for Children and the Theta Foundation. Thank you, Kappa Alpha Theta!
Truancy Prevention Pilot - One Year Later
As we approach spring and the end of another school year, VFC is pleased to share the progress of the Truancy Prevention Pilot. In August of 2025, VFC expanded our program offerings to include support for students enrolled in Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts who are chronically absent from school but not involved in the judicial system. This program was developed in conjunction with the school districts and courts as they identified a need for more support for these students and their families. By intervening before these cases make it to the judicial system, reducing the level of trauma and stress on youth and families.
Since the program began, VFC has served 13 students with Educational Advocates and has seen fantastic results. One student shared, " I love my mentor! She is so sweet and we get along great!" VFC needs more mentors in 2026. If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering, please email Elisa Lemack at elisa@bouldervfc.org.
