Pre-Truancy and Truancy

Pre-Truancy and Truancy

Truancy CASA Program

Since 2016, Voices for Children, CASA of Boulder County has worked collaboratively with the 20th Judicial District, St. Vrain Valley School District, and Boulder Valley School District as part of Boulder County’s Truancy Improvement Project (TIP).

When the school district files a Truancy case on behalf of a student, a CASA volunteer can be requested by the Judge, the school district, or the student’s Guardian ad Litem. Much like CASA volunteers appointed on Dependency and Neglect cases, the volunteer will advocate for the youth in court, prepare reports for the Judge and parties to review, and collaborate with various professionals to support the youth and family.

Truancy Prevention

In 2025, Voices for Children, CASA of Boulder County launched a Truancy Prevention Program, aimed at mitigating barriers to attendance and supporting youth who are at-risk for becoming chronically truant. Educational Advocates work directly with youth, their families, and school professionals.
