Our May CASA Volunteer of the Month is Lisa Schwartz Ogle

We are excited to honor Lisa Schwartz Ogle as our CASA of the month for her continued commitment as a volunteer with VFC since 2022. While serving on her current case, Lisa has gone above and beyond to build a trusting relationship with her youth.

Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge as an advocate through her support of at-risk youth in the DC area for 25 years. Lisa notes that several of the children were in the system without the support of any adult beyond their professional team and were in need of advocacy and healthy adult guidance, which encouraged her to become a CASA volunteer.

Lisa shared that one of the best parts of being a CASA volunteer is seeing positive changes and growth in a child who feels newly supported and cared for. She also shared her thoughts on the most meaningful part of her role, “As a (gleeful) retiree, I enjoy having the time to spend really delving into the needs of my CASA case. While there are many struggles and setbacks and traumas in this child’s life, it's extraordinarily satisfying to truly celebrate every success with a youth who hasn't had others celebrate her”

Lisa is a strong member of the professional case team and has also pours her time, heart and energy into building those connections to effectively advocate and support her youth.

Thank you for the empathy, honesty, and consistency that you bring to CASA, Lisa! We are deeply grateful; it is because of volunteers like you that meaningful changes have been made possible for the children and families we serve.
