Juvenile Delinquency

Juvenile Delinquency (JD) Advocacy

Every young person deserves someone in their corner, especially when they’re facing the justice system. Trained CASA volunteers will walk alongside these youth, connect them to the support they need, and advocate for outcomes that keep them in school, out of court, and on a path toward a stable future.

How CASA Advocates Support Youth in JD Cases

A CASA volunteer assigned to a Juvenile Delinquency case is appointed by the court to be a consistent, trusted adult in a young person’s life. JD advocates will:

  • Meet regularly with the youth to build a trust-based relationship

  • Learn about the youth’s history, strength, and needs – including any instability at home or in school

  • Connect youth and families to community resources, from mental health support to transportation

  • Collaborate with attorneys, social workers, probation officers, school staff, and other professionals already involved in the case

  • Report to the court and recommend services and next steps that reflect the youth’s best interests

Volunteers receive specialized training on the court process, trauma-informed advocacy, and confidentiality before taking on a case.

Who We Serve

Youth are referred to the JD CASA Program by a judge, the youth's Guardian ad Litem, or another party to the case. Referrals are prioritized for young people who are navigating family dysfunction, trauma, educational instability, or a lack of resources.
