We’re proud to recognize Lorien Howe as our CASA of the Month!

Since being sworn in as a CASA volunteer in November 2023, Lorien has been a dedicated and consistent advocate for the same two youth. Her unwavering presence has made a meaningful impact on their lives and allowed her to closely monitor their well-being and ensure their needs are being met in every aspect.

Lorien has gone above and beyond in her advocacy, securing crucial therapeutic and educational support for one of the children who is struggling emotionally, which had begun to affect his performance in the classroom. Her thoughtful and proactive approach has helped create a more supportive environment for him to thrive.

In court, Lorien brings the voices of the children front and center. By sharing powerful quotes, heartfelt stories, and attaching pictures to her court reports, she gives the children she serves a stronger presence in the decision-making process. Lorien has also played a pivotal role in facilitating family time, enabling the children to see their parents more frequently. This connection has helped maintain and strengthen important family bonds while the children are placed out of home.

When asked what drives her to be a CASA, Lorien shared, “Being a CASA often means acting as a bridge or a support as kids are going through the hardest times of their lives. I love being someone they lean into when everything else feels shaky.”

Lorien also treasures the memories she’s made alongside the families she serves. She shared, “I’ve gotten to be a part of so many big moments – celebrating the parents and the kids and helping them create memories in the midst! I recently got to take my teen and his mom to his first Nuggets game, and it was so fun seeing how excited they were.”

Lorien’s dedication, compassion, and hands-on approach truly exemplify what it means to be a CASA. Thank you, Lorien, for being a steady light during such critical times in these children's lives.
