CASA Lucy Reddell
Our October CASA Volunteer of the Month is Lucy Reddell
For October, we are honored to recognize Lucy Reddell as CASA of the Month. Lucy has been sworn in as a volunteer in February of 2026 and has been serving on a Dependency and Neglect case. Lucy has been an amazing CASA volunteer by prioritizing the children on her case and understanding the family’s situation to best advocate for them.
In reflecting on why Lucy became a CASA volunteer, Lucy shared that she has had her own experience of being involved in the child welfare system as a teenager and bouncing between placements for a long time. Lucy shared that she did not have a CASA herself but had a few adults who prioritized her safety and were consistent that Lucy could trust no matter where she was placed. Now as an adult, Lucy dedicates her time to learning about the flaws within the system and finding ways to make it better. Lucy states that being a CASA felt like an opportunity to show up for kids, going through similar experiences and while having her own understanding of the system.
For Lucy, her favorite part about being a CASA is getting to spend time with her CASA kids. Lucy states, “Whether it’s going to get burgers from In-N-Out or learning how to play soccer in the yard, they remind me how to be unconditionally present even when times are hard.” Lucy recognizes how motivated and strong her CASA kids are. Lucy has had her own experience of being in the child welfare system as a teenager and recognizes now as a CASA that there are real opportunities to advocate for change. “I’ve learned that my voice matters, especially when I can use it to help make sure a young person’s voice is heard too,” Lucy reflects.
Lucy, we are so grateful for your dedication and passion to advocate for the children and families in our community. Congratulations on being our October CASA of the Month!
